Arriving in Seoul after midnight — where can you actually check in?
Updated September 2026 · Written by Gunwoo Lee, host of Da-woo House since 2018
Getting in is not the problem. Da-woo House runs 24-hour self check-in, so a 2 AM arrival works the same as a 4 PM one: the door code is already on your phone and there is nobody to wake. The real question is transport, because the last AREX train out of the airport leaves before midnight.
So the planning question flips. Instead of asking whether the guesthouse will let you in, ask what is still moving by the time you clear immigration and baggage claim. That gap, between landing and being through the airport, is the one people underestimate.
Thirteen of 1,062 inbound guest messages in the twelve months to September 2026 were a version of "I arrive around 11 PM or midnight, is that a problem?" The answer has never been no, but the answer people actually need is about buses and taxis.
What is still running
The last AREX departure from Incheon Terminal 2 is around 22:48. Board the All-Stop train, marked 일반열차, because the Express train runs non-stop to Seoul Station and does not call at Hongik University Station. Timetables move, so confirm the current one with Airport Railroad Co. rather than trusting a number in an article. After the trains stop, the Airport Limousine 6002 bus runs to the Hongdae Hongik University Station stop until roughly 1 AM, which covers most delayed evening arrivals.
After about 1 AM the honest answer is a taxi. A Kakao Taxi from Incheon to Hongdae costs roughly 70,000 to 90,000 won and takes 50 to 60 minutes depending on traffic, which at that hour is usually light. It is the expensive option, and on a 3 AM landing it is the only one, so it belongs in the budget of any red-eye itinerary.
Once you are inside the city
Seoul runs a night bus network branded the Owl Bus, numbered with an N prefix. The Seoul Metropolitan Government says these operate between midnight and about 5 AM at intervals of 30 to 50 minutes. They do not run from the airport, so they are no help on the ride in, but they matter if you land early enough to reach the city and then need to move across it after the subway closes.
What happens when you reach the door
The same thing that happens at any other hour. The message Da-woo House sends on the day of arrival carries your room, your floor and the door code. You enter the code followed by the star key. There is no curfew, so the same code gets you back in at 4 AM after a night out on the Hongdae strip.
Two things are worth doing before you board the plane. Save the check-in message so it is readable offline, and save the walking directions from Hongik University Station Exit 6. One in the morning in an unfamiliar alley is a bad moment to discover that your roaming is not working.
The one thing to tell us in advance
If you are landing after 10 PM, message ahead with your flight and expected arrival. Routine replies run 9 AM to 10 PM Korean time and urgent issues are covered around the clock, but a note sent before you fly means the answer is waiting for you when you land rather than being written at 1 AM.

Frequently asked questions
- Is there a check-in cut-off time?
- No. Check-in opens at 3 PM and does not close. Self check-in runs 24 hours and there is no curfew, so the same door code also works when you come back at 4 AM.
- What if my flight is delayed past the last train?
- Nothing changes at the guesthouse and the door code stays valid. Switch to the 6002 limousine bus if it is before about 1 AM, or a taxi after that.
- Can I message you when I land?
- Yes, in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French or Thai. Routine replies run 9 AM to 10 PM Korean time and urgent issues are covered around the clock. A door that will not open at 2 AM is urgent.
